Abitibi-Bowater, Fort Frances ON – New Biomass Boiler (450,000 lbs/hr)

Pipe stress analysis and support design for the main 900# (900°F) NPS-14 steam line from the new biomass plant to the existing steam line connected to the generator in the Co-Gen Plant.  The line was installed in a pipe bridge and thermally grew 12″ into each of the buildings when operating.  Substantial flexibility was required to minimize the effect of this growth on the boiler discharge and the turbine inlet.

Design of the 1200# feedwater line from the deaerator to the new boiler economizer, 175# process steam line from the Co-Gen Plant to the boiler air heater, 195# condensate line from the air heater to the condensate tank and the blowdown lines from the steam drum to the blow tank.  Also, weekly site inspections during the installation of the piping.
